rethink, renew, repair, recreate, rebuild

On September 25, an early morning building fire started behind the Maebird space. The smoke from the fire damaged our studio and its contents. Maebird lost 95% of its supplies, and about half of its furniture and artwork. The clean-up process is slow going, the building requires massive clean-up, and we won’t have a studio space until mid 2024. But a building fire isn’t going to stop Maebird from spreading some printmaking love. We’re rethinking ways to print, recreating lost artwork, and rebuilding what we started back in April of 2023. We’re working on different ways to get y’all printing again and to bring fresh artwork to your home.

The unexpected offspring of maebird

Maebird is adding a mobile component – mobile printmaking and micro-gallery – bringing demos, workshops, artwork and letterpress greeting cards to you. Based in Stevens Point, WI, Maebird will traverse the area in a big, fire-red van, stopping at businesses, private venues, and markets beginning late spring of 2024. Who knows where you’ll spot us.
