I’m a Wisconsin based printmaker working mostly in relief, letterpress, and monotype printmaking methods. I enjoy photography as well, and am an occasional illustrator.
“Where art and design collide” is how I describe my work. In my work, I capture pattern and design in nature, and favor the simplicity of creating in one or 2 colors. Quiet space is an important element of my work and my world. Birds are often part of my subject matter - the design that I see in birds fascinates me.
My workspace and method goal is to keep it all as non-toxic as possible. Maebird studio operates in the most environmentally and socially friendly manner possible to keep our planet, hands and minds healthy. Inks, cleaners and solvents are non-toxic. Many plate materials are scraps and upcycled materials and that I use multiple times. Recycled paper, magazines and junk mail are all used in many of my processes.
